Sandhya Rao

Sandhya Rao has published about 25 books for children (in English, Hindi, and in translation) and rendered Astrid Lindgren’s Pippi Longstocking in Hindi. Some of her well-known books are Ekki Dokki, Storm in the Garden, Grandma’s Eyes, My Friend the Sea, Picture Gandhi and My Gandhi Scrapbook. In 2006, she was one of the only two children’s authors from India to be invited to the Frankfurt Bookfair. My Friend, the Sea received a prize at the Berlin Literary Festival 2005. My Mother’s Sari was selected as an outstanding international title by USBBY in 2007.
